In September 2016 the children of the Greenfields Junior and Infant school officially boarded their new pirate ship. All materials were provided courtesy of fund raising events organised by the school PTA. The pirate ship was designed and build by our own estates crew headed by L.J. Daley The opening took place on the first day of the autumn term and after a warm thank you to the PTA and to the Estates crew, a bottle was broken on the ship’s hull to officially launch it. The ship is called the Jolly Roger (from the story of Peter Pan) and once the ribbon was cut the children swarmed onto the ship. They swung happily from ropes, descended the slide and pole and put the ship’s wheel, bell and telescope to good use! It has two floors and a section for the girls called ‘mermaids’ and the boys called ‘sailors’. The ship is a lovely addition to the Junior and Infant playground and one which will no doubt be well utilised by the children for years to come!
